The challenge
A South African bottled water brand uses ozone generators across its bottling line to treat the water used in the bottling process. The project required an increased ozone output while retaining the existing enclosure and electrical configuration.
The solution
A South African bottled water brand uses SOZ 20G, SOZ 60G, SOZ 80G and SOZ 100G ozone generators from Biozone across its bottling line to disinfect and treat the water used in the bottling process.
- Ozone generators: one SOZ 20G, two SOZ 60G, one SOZ 80G and one SOZ 100G, used across the bottling line.
- SOZ 60G configuration for this project: a compact integrated design with oxygen generation and ozone production in one enclosure, using an integrated oxygen concentrator and three modular air-cooled ozone modules. The internal layout was redesigned to fit them within the existing enclosure and electrical configuration.
- Ozone injection: ozone is injected directly into the process-water line through a venturi injector with non-return protection.
- Operation: the system includes a controlled start-up and shutdown procedure, designed to protect the ozone cells.
- Documentation: a dedicated user and installation manual was prepared for the project.
SOZ ozone generators are supplied and supported by Biozone, a South African engineering company.
Client benefit
The system is designed to provide an on-site ozone supply for the disinfection and treatment of water used in the bottling process. Venturi injection is designed to transfer ozone into the water stream.
Sustainability
Ozone is generated on site from oxygen, and ozone decomposes back into oxygen. Generating it on site can reduce the transport, storage and handling of conventional disinfection chemicals. The air-cooled SOZ 60G configuration for this project removes the need for a cooling-water supply.
Design basis
- One SOZ 20G, two SOZ 60G, one SOZ 80G and one SOZ 100G ozone generators across the bottling line
- SOZ 60G configuration for this project: integrated oxygen concentrator and three air-cooled ozone modules in one enclosure
- Ozone injected into the process-water line through a venturi injector with non-return protection
- Controlled start-up and shutdown procedure
Safety note: For unoccupied spaces or enclosed water treatment systems only. Ozone should not be inhaled.
